Our group was given the task to make a short film about a 'package'. So we decided to make our package a SD card that had pictures of Harambe on it. That gets nicked by the other person in the short film (he didn't know there was pictures of Harambe on it.) but instead thought the SD card had secret information on it. We also had to do this in up to 20 shots. The people in my group were Rebecca, Raffi and I.
How well did you meet the criteria of the brief?
we met the criteria pretty well because we used variety of camera angles and shots. But i think next time i would try and use even more camera angles to make the short film feel a lot more fast paced.
What went well?
I really like this shot of the subject's hand chucking the SD card because his hand is in the light but the SD card flies in to the dark shadow and gets lost.
I thought the way we edited the title, so it's moving towards you then fades out.
The match on match action shots came out really well because they were really smooth and look very natural. This made the short film feel really fast past. A match on match action shot is when you see one angle of the action and it quickly changes to a different angle of the action.
Also all of our shots came out really nice because the were all in focus. We had to take a couple of shots again and again to make them perfectly focused.
This is a travelling over the shoulder shot came out really nicely with the music behind it because it build up a lot of tension and just a very nice shot over all. I also really like the lighting in this shot because the subject is really dark but the corridor is really light, this really brings out the subject.
At the start of the short film we edited it so the video faded in from black and at the end of the video it faded out to black. This was to make the short film feel slow paced at the start and end of the short film.
What would you do differently?
If our group had more time we would have made the ending shot a lot better because there wasn't much to it and it didn't really end the short film to well. If i made the ending again i would properly add some credits at the end.
This shot came out every over exposed we should have retaken this shot but we didn't really have enough time to do so.
This shot was way to long we should have sped it up because it really does slow down the pace of the short film.
Hi Nic,
ReplyDeleteGood start, some good reflection here!
Please check you have covered all points in the task.
-Have you talked about mise-en-scene?
-Have you covered high and low shots?
-Have you covered transitions?
-How well do you follow the 180 degree rule?
Some good screenshots to accompany your points but needs more detail and reflection on all aspects of this task.
Nick this is a good start but does not really give enough explanation of techniques - remember you needed to show that you could define things like match on action etc, and you don't really do that. Next time try to push your analysis a bit further. Also please give this post a title (Continuity Sequence Evaluation).
