Introduction.
A documentary is a film, television or radio progamme that is made on real events with facts.
Expository documentaries speak directly to the viewer, often in the form of an authoritative commentary employing voiceover or titles, proposing a strong argument and point of view. These films are rhetorical, and try to persuade the viewer.
Observational documentaries attempt to simply and spontaneously observe lived life with a minimum of intervention.
Interactive documentary is a documentary production that differs from the more traditional forms video, audio, photographic by applying a full complement of multimedia tools. The user is able to modify its journey through the documentary based on their responses. The documentary wont always be able to get access and privacy to film in a location. Even though they my get permission to film in a room inside a building they won't be able to film out of the room so there will be missing parts about the truth.
Reflexive documentaries show the viewer how the documentary is constructed (in terms of editing and portrayal of the truth) and the film maker is a part of the documentary and provides the narrative to the documentary.
Performative documentary emphasizes the filmmaker’s own involvement with the subject. The filmmaker shows a larger political or historical reality through the window of her own experience. Rather than rely on the expository approach, the rhetoric of persuasion, the performative filmmaker becomes a personal guide who shows it and tells it like it is with raw emotion. In performative documentaries they use dramatisations and re-enactments to tella story they use these because there wouldn't have been anyone there at the time to film it.
Conclusion
My documentary filmmaking philosophy is showing the history behind drum and bass and and going in to why people like it so much and i will also go in to a bit about mixing drum and bass.
I think documentary's showed show the truth but they can never put everything in so some of the truth will be missing. So you can't really believe everything you see because you have to remember that the edited has properly edited out some of the truth behind it all.
